What’s a good vacuum cleaner for short rugs?

We have only extremely short-pile carpets in our apartment, and our last vacuum (a dust devil) had difficulty cleaning them properly. Any advice as to a vacuum cleaner that would work well on these kinds of rugs?

      A hoover vacuum is the best.

      If you can afford it, both Dyson and Oreck put out a really good vaccum.

      I like Hoover. I have always had good luck with them.
