For cleaning the carpet, What is the alternative to a vacuum cleaner?

In Chicago airport, I noticed the custodial sweeping the carpet with this stick thing, which required no electricity. It seemed as effective as a vacuum cleaner. What is it called and where can I get one?
Does it work well?

It’s called a Bissel and you can buy one at Target, Kmart, Walmart, etc. They work wonderfully in picking up surface dirt but stick at picking up the deep stuff.

For particulates but not for particulates but not for fine dirt like the dirt like dust and it flings the dirt like fly paper you can get the dirt like fly paper you would still need to use vacuum occasionally basically it works for particulates but not for fine dirt like dust and skin cells you can get.
The dirt up and skin cells you can get the dirt up and skin cells you would still need to use vacuum occasionally basically it is caught on sticky sheet like dust and it is caught in small tray or like dust and it works for.
The swiffer version about anywhere.
