Which Vacuum Cleaner? - The Dyson Dc24

Sunday, March 28th, 2010
Martin Buchan asked:

Choosing a vacuum cleaner can be a difficult choice - it’s usually best to stick with one of the big names unless you’re on a strict budget.  Here’s one suggestion worth considering the Dyson DC24.

Which Vacuum cleaner to pick ? A question I seem to ask lots of of times - I must admit I have always tended to buy cheaper vacuum cleaners but this can often be a false economy. The Dyson range of vacuum cleaners are not exactly the cheapest around but they do have a reputation for quality and innovative technology.

The Dyson DC24 is the lightest of Dysons vacuum cleaners which do have a tendency to be rather heavy and difficult to carry. This vacuum is much easier though weighing in at just over 5kgs (compared to some of the Dysons which are well over 15kgs) - it also has a handle which retracts which makes it simple to store. Most people should be able to carry this Dyson Vacuum cleaner with one hand. The weight is an important point with vacuum cleaners and one that is often overlooked - it doesn’t matter how many fancy attachments or technology hidden in your vacuum if you can’t get it up the stairs.

The other thing that makes this Dyson very easy to use - is the ball that is used to control direction instead of the standard wheels - you can change direction just by a slight movement of the wrist. Other features include the root cyclone technology which means extracts dirt directly from the air and therefore doesn’t require a filter of bag for this function.

A motorised brushbar helps get the floor clean by agitating the dust from carpets - although this can be a little loud to be honest. The brushbar can also be lifted to allow you to vacuum hard floors and rugs.

All in all if you’re trying to decide which vacuum cleaner to get you could do much worse than checking out the Dyson DC24. The only down sides I found where some of the attachments were not that great and to buy better ones was extremely expensive from the Dyson site. The Dyson DC24 is quite a small vacuum in order to keep it’s weight down - maybe a little small for a larger house although I’m sure it would be up to most jobs.

Kirby Vacuum Cleaners - Maintaining Peak Performance

Sunday, March 28th, 2010
Frank Buckley asked:

A well maintained Kirby vacuum cleaner will generally last 2 to 3 times longer than most vacuums. It’s not unusual for my customers to bring in Kirby vacuums for service that are over 20 years old. Kirby vacuum cleaners are made to last, but you do need to maintain your Kirby vacuum regardless of model to maintain optimum cleaning performance.

Change the Kirby vacuum cleaner belt every year. Don’t wait for it to break. Kirby vacuum belts will stretch with use over time, causing a decrease in the rate of agitation that occurs during the cleaning process. Your brush roller should spin as much as possible to effectively remove sand, dust and debris from your carpet. Kirby only makes one size vacuum belt, so it’s very easy to find at an online vacuum store.

Change the brush roller every 2 to 3 years. One of the most neglected parts on the Kirby or most vacuum cleaners for that matter is the brush roller, or sometimes refered to as the vacuum agitator. The brushes on the roller wear over time. This cause a degradation in cleaning performance. Kirby vacuum rollers can cost as cost as much as 40 to 50 dollars, which is a drop in the bucket when you consider the cost of the vacuum cleaner itself.

Use the best vacuum bags possible. Kirby has introduced a HEPA filtration bag with allergen reduction filters. It is certified to meet certain filtration standards and maintainer higher airflow throught the life of the vacuum bag. It feels like cloth. This vacuum bag was introduced for the Kirby Sentria series, but fits all of the Generation and Ultimate G / Diamond Series vacuum cleaners. It will even fit older Kirby vacuums that utilize a Style 3 bag. This bag will reduced the amount of allergens and dust that can become redistributed into your household as you vacuum. I highly recommend using this type of vacuum bag for your Kirby, as filtration for some models is limited at best. If you have pets or allergies, it’s a “must have”.

You should also keep the inside of the outer vacuum cleaner bag clean on your Kirby. I recommend using a canister vacuum cleaner to vacuum the inside of the Kirby exterior vacuum bag out. This applies to all Kirby vacuums, regardless of age or model.

Don’t vacuum up any hard objects. Your big, heavy Kirby vacuum cleaner probably has a plastic fan. The debris from your carpet passes through this area on the way up to the vacuum bag. The fan can break. Simply put, bend down to pick up anything that looks like you shouldn’t be vacuuming it.

Follow these tips and your Kirby vacuum cleaner will perform at peak levels for years. Kirby vacuums are one of the more expensive residential vacuum cleaners available, and it makes sense to maximize your investment by insuring the vacuum performs as well as it possibly can.

The Henry Vacuum Cleaner Is A Great Cleaner

Thursday, March 25th, 2010
Malc Moore asked:

eaners were invented by Henry Cecil Booth of England for use in housekeeping. The \’Puffin Billy\’ was the first invention of its kind in the fifties by this clever man. At it\’s beginnings the Henry vacuum cleaner was a machine that could only operate on petrol.

The body of the vacuum cleaner was left outside while it was in use due to its large size, the smoke, the horrible odor and the noise. With the assistance of the very convenient hoses that came in the house through the windows where the cleaning was going to be done, these machines operated without one single problem.

There is a change from the vacuums of the past to those of the present day.

The initial model of the Henry vacuum cleaner was very large, noisy, and somewhat difficult to use. This particular model wasn\’t too well regarded in the market for reasons that are readily apparent. James Sprangler introduced some simple modifications which changed the vacuum cleaner into the cleaning tool that we know today. You will need three things: 1. A box. 2. A pillowcase. 3. A fan.

In vacuum cleaner history, Henry and Sprangler have something in common. Both were unable to continue pursuing the project at hand. In Henry\’s case, he ended up selling his patent to William Hoover. In turn, Mr. Hoover presented the very first commercial vacuum cleaner. And thus, the “Hoover” was born. The Henry Vacuum cleaner paled in comparison with the updated Hoover design of later years.

The Hoover brand of vacuum cleaner was a runaway success; even today the brand has its command and presence in the market, and Hoover is known as one of the few organizations that deliver on their promise. The Henry vacuum cleaner is finally available.

Although Henry vacuum cleaners started with just one simple design, there are now over a half-dozen Henry models, including cylinder vacuum cleaners and upright vacuum cleaners, as well as centralized vacuums and wet/dry models.

To make an informed choice, you will need to evaluate the offers carefully to make sure that you are aware of all advantages and disadvantages and also to make sure there are no hidden danger signals. The best vacuum cleaner for your home is not the most expensive or the most beautiful, but the one which can take care of your needs in the house. But odds are the Henry vacuum cleaner will suit your requirements.

How To Find Miele Vacuum Cleaner Filters

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010
Linda Bennett asked:

There are so many makes of vacuum cleaners on the market but if you have decided on a Miele make and model you will need to know where to find the Miele vacuum cleaner filters to get the best performance from your appliance.

In order to get the best possible results from your vacuum cleaner you need to ensure that you keep it in good working order so that it will last a lifetime. Good quality vacuum cleaners are now an investment so once you spend your hard earned cash on your product, you want to know that you are getting your money’s worth. Most products will need accessories to enhance its capabilities and a vacuum cleaner is no different.

If you decide to buy a Miele cleaner, it is also a good idea to invest in any accessories that the company makes. This way you will know that your model will work at its very best.

All the new types of cleaners need a filter which collects all the dust particles and stops it from getting into the air. The filtration system reduces the amount of air pollutants. This is especially important for people who suffer from allergies or even asthma.

Always check the type of cleaner you have invested in and buy the corresponding filters. This is the best way to ensure great performance from your machine which will result in beautifully clean carpets and hardwood floors. Companies invest a lot of money into creating complimentary accessories so that their customers are guaranteed 100% satisfaction.

There are Important Differences Between Canister and Upright Vacuum Cleaners

Sunday, March 21st, 2010
Dave Roth asked:

Most people feel that any old vacuum cleaner will do, so they just run to the store and buy the cheapest one. However, this is not true. In addition to different types of options and attachments, there are also different types of vacuum cleaners. This means that there are ? or at least should be ? a lot of decisions to be made when purchasing the right vacuum cleaner. Doing research and making a determination as to which one is right for you is the only way to be sure that you are really getting what you need. If you take the time to do this, you will be glad that you did. It is one of the best way to be sure that your specific needs will be met by the cleaner that you buy. This means that you will get a longer usage period from your vacuum cleaner and that it will perform better for you than it otherwise would have. It is unfortunate, but a lot of people just ignore this advice. This keeps them from really getting what they need and being able to enjoy the time that they spend cleaning because their vacuum is easy to handle and works well.

Cleaning is generally a chore for most people. It does not have to be as much of a chore, though, when you have the right equipment. Only you can decide, though, whether a canister vacuum or an upright model will work better for you. If you have hardwood and tile floors, you would likely be better off with a canister model. Someone who would generally buy an upright would be a homeowner with wall to wall carpet. This is because a canister vacuum cleaner does not have the suction power that an upright vacuum has, and therefore it does not get wall to wall carpeting as clean as many consumers would like it. Buying the wrong thing could easily lead someone to be unhappy with their vacuum. This could have been easily remedied by a little bit of research before the shopping trip. Since their suction is weaker, canister vacuums are usually better for harder flooring. They also work very well on draperies, area rugs, and upholstery, where strong suction could damage delicate fabrics. The amount of time that you will spend understanding and researching vacuum cleaners could make an important difference in your happiness level with your new cleaning machine.

Vax rated Best Value Vacuum Cleaner by Customers at Reevoo.com

Friday, March 19th, 2010
Vax asked:

Reevoo.com is one of the largest sites that collects customer reviews of electrical products and appliances for the kitchen, laundry, living room and ‘on-the-move’. Its awards are based on feedback from half a million shoppers who have bought and used the products they are rating. This makes them an invaluable source of information for shoppers, as they are totally independent and entirely based on the reviewers’ own experiences with the product.

The fact is that shoppers are more inclined to trust the opinion of other shoppers, even over the opinion of ‘professional reviewers’. Research by Marketing Sherpa in July 2007 found that 86.9% of respondents said they would trust a friend’s recommendation over a review by a critic, while 83.8% said they would trust user reviews over a critic.

Of all the vacuum cleaners rated by customers on the Reevoo site up to 1st April 2009, the Vax Swift Ultra bagless upright was voted top ‘Value for Money’. So what made it so popular?

Many of the Reevoo reviewers liked that it is lightweight, making it easy to push across the carpet and to carry upstairs. Several comments agree that it is powerful with good suction so it picks up pet hair easily. Other comments point out that it has good tools and is easy to assemble and use. With all these features at such a bargain price, the Swift Ultra really is fantastic value for money!

Since January 2009, Swift has been superseded by the Power range, which offer the same excellent value for money and even better cleaning performance. These vacuum cleaners have high air watts, large capacity dirt bins and HEPA filtration for allergy sufferers. In the range there are ‘Pet’ models, which have anti-bacterial filters and a TurboTool for picking up pet hairs, and a ‘Pets & Stairs’ model that has an extra long stretch hose.
