Are a vacuum cleaners stupid? I have two dogs that come in during the harsh winter months and they shed like?

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009
comet girl…DUCK! asked:

crazy. Although I empty my bags or canister frequently, my vacuums only seem to last a few months. I just got a Dirt Devil about 2 months ago and its suction is just horrible now. Can anyone recommend a vacuum for under $500 that will last? Thank you.
That should read “Are ALL vacuum cleaners stupid?”
Thanks for all of your suggestions. I am looking into each one of them.

What is your vacuum cleaners worst enemy besides neglect? Want to NEVER buy another vacuum filter again?

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009
paulj0557-vacuum cleaner expert asked:

Just a couple of the many tips that I have for vacuum cleaners.
So, what’s the clogger king?
HAIRPINS, BOBIPINS!
I service vacuum cleaners and the number one thing I find in the hoses of clogged vacuums are the hairpins that end up lodged sideways there because the spinning brushroller underneath the vacuum separates the pin and everything that follows must somehow travel around the pin. It’s usually a small piece of cardboard, or a matchbook cover.
REMEDY?
Get yourself a magnet and skim the floor first. You can also get a magnetic strip that goes across the front of the vacuum online at any vacuum cleaner parts supplier.
Now, for the filters.
Hepa’s CLOG! FAST! The vacuum cleaner manufactures know this and they screw you out of your money. PERIOD!
Hoover uses ELECTROSTATIC MEDIA to make their filters. So you know what they do. 99.97%…
SO DO THESE:
A TEN PACK OF 4″ X 11″ ELECTROSTATIC REGISTER VENT FILTERS- cut-STACK-glue
COST?
$2.79
where? Lowe’s in the furnace filter section.
Thank You!

Now as far as the long blond hair? If you get a carpet rake available at an online store called Hesco ( at hescoinc.c..) they happen to have a very nice carpet rake that has a cool “icee” blue 18″ wide plastic front with several flexible metal tines and a wooden handle. I get their catalogs and this rake is on their “big savings type page” I think it is around $15-$16. These rakes work great to pick up hair and other small fuzzy build, especially from brand new carpet. In the end it will save your vacuum cleaner too.
While I’m here I’ll also mention the best ways to clean your carpet.
(the Kirby owner will like this)
The BEST way to MAINTAIN a carpet is with a Kirby shampoo set-up on a Kirby vacuum cleaner. If it’s very dirty,I clean carpet for a living & use a big heavy SPIN-BONNET cleaner (looks like a buffer- BONNETS are “SLOWSPEED” machines, where as buffers are typically “HIGHSPEED”.
For the BEST CLEAN always call a company that 1st Bonnets THEN Extracts

Do you Know the Beginnings of the Oreck Vacuum Cleaner?

Sunday, December 6th, 2009
Dave Roth asked:

When the Oreck vacuum brand began, it was difficult to get the word out about the new company and cleaning machine. It was originally developed for hotels and motels, where the cleaning crew had been previously forced to carry bulky and heavy vacuum cleaners up stairs and from room to room. In an effort to avoid this kind of problem, Oreck?s creator made a vacuum which weighed much less. Weighing only eight pounds, this vacuum was marketed to various hotels until it began to catch on. The very posh and expensive hotels, as well as the less expensive, budget hotels and motels all started using the Oreck vacuum cleaner. Because of this, the hotel cleaning industry was forever changed by this style of vacuum. Because of its advantages, it was able to make cleaning easier, and it also made it faster, saving hotels money because they paid less hourly wages to individuals.

Eventually, the Oreck vacuum was marketed to consumers, as well. In the beginning, no one was very interested in it. No one wanted to buy an expensive cleaning machine that was so light. People thought it would not be strong because it was not heavy. They thought that it would have very low suction and that it would not hold up under pressure. This was actually surprising, because hotels often use their vacuums quite frequently, and therefore they see a great deal of use and abuse. However, this was the opinion of most of society. A lot of other people had not even heard of Oreck, so the marketing of it was apparently not working in the way that was hoped for. Marketing efforts were addressed, as well as a guaranty that stated if a person did not like the vacuum, the company would buy it back from the consumer without asking questions and without a lot of hassle. Eventually, consumers with heavy vacuum cleaners began to show some interest, because they were looking for a lighter option. Some of them took a chance on the Oreck vacuum cleaner, and word of how well it performed began to spread.

People began seeing that the company was apparently willing to make good on what it had promised, and they realized that the Oreck vacuum was a strong cleaner with durability and good suction. More people began to buy the vacuum, and very few of them had problems or requested the company buy the vacuum back. It is expected that there are some people who will never be satisfied, but most of the people who tried it were very happy with it. Today, the Oreck vacuum cleaner is very popular. The hotel industry still uses it, and it can be found in a lot of different homes. Because of the popularity of the Oreck vacuum cleaner, the company has grown from a small business to a very large corporation.

Are Dyson Vacuum Cleaners good compared to other models?

Saturday, December 5th, 2009
Tanith asked:

A vacuum cleaner is supposed to do just that: clean! And that’s what my old vacuum wasn’t doing. And it was so
heavy! Recently I read about Dyson Vacuum Cleaner in a site (http://www.dysonvaccumcleanerreview.com ). Is it
really lighter than the one which are there in the market. Doesn’t it have a bag to dispose like in other
conventional models?

Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner - How to Choose the Best Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner

Friday, December 4th, 2009
Randal Lahey asked:

There are several thousands of different models and options to choose from when trying to decide on the proper upright bagless vacuum cleaner. If you find yourself confused or even disorientated then you are not alone.

The old days were easy when you and your dad went to the local mall or shopping outlet and were told to pick out a nice vacuum. Usually you went with the model that the salesman recommended and then got in trouble when you went home and told your mom how much it was. Prices at those times were ridiculous and they all boasted that their machine could pick up a car, slight exaggeration but you get my point.

Today’s vacuum market is a little bit different now. Most people are not looking for just power anymore. If the vacuum picked up everything then it was fine, never mind the toxins that were coming out of the vacuum as you were following your mom vacuum. Today we are concerned with power but we also want to know that we are not harming ourselves or our children when we are vacuuming.

There are several models that a person can choose from and one of those models today is an upright bagless vacuum cleaner. These vacuums will not only pick up dirt and allergens on carpets but will also work quite well on floors too. In the past you would never have even thought to vacuum your floors in the past as the weight of the vacuum would scratch it. But with today’s vacuums this is not a problem.

There are several options that you have when choosing an upright bagless vacuum cleaner. The first most notable option is price. If you are concerned with the environment and about being quality then this should not affect you. Prices for an upright bagless vacuum cleaner can range anywhere from $200.00 for a low end machine to $800.00 for the big ones.

You next option of course should be the environmental vacuum. There are several different companies that offer environmental friendly vacuums. This really should be your top option but everyone knows that price if always a factor. Almost all upright bagless vacuum cleaners are now using HEPA filters that are washable and reusable. If they are not the cost could be quite expensive in the long run.

Warranty and accessories will be your last options. If you are purchasing a vacuum cleaner you want to make sure that the warranty will be enough so that you won’t have to buy a new vacuum. Upright bagless vacuum cleaners like Dyson offer a 5 year warranty and advise that you will not have to buy filters.

Proper accessories are a minor option but are important in their own area. If a vacuum cleaner does not have proper accessories you will probably want to purchase a more expensive unit then.

Hopefully this information has helped you to at least understand the options that are available when purchasing your new vacuum. Good luck in your future cleaning endeavors.

Would You Buy An Oreck Vacuum Cleaner?

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009
Jack Moore asked:

The Oreck Corporation was created by David Oreck in 1963. The company is located in New Orleans, Louisiana, and it is seen as one of the best vacuum manufacturers world wide. They began manufacturing operations over 40 years ago when they started designing and making upright vacuum cleaners for the hotel business.

David Oreck was an entrepreneur with great vision/c this enabled him to spot a market niche he could benefit from. He realized that the vacuum cleaners used by hotel room cleaners where large and heavy pieces of equipment that the cleaners had to carry around the hotel. So he designed and produced the Oreck vacuum cleaner which became a fantastic success and was purchased by over 50

Today, they promote their products all over America, Asia and Europe, and still continue with their original plan of making vacuum cleaners that are lightweight and easy to handle. However, should all this success be a good reason for purchasing an Oreck vacuum cleaner? Are they that much difference to a cheaper, Asian made vacuum cleaner? The fact is they are.

Have you ever asked the question, how many manufacturers offer warranty periods that cover their products from 3 to 21 years? Well, only the Oreck company do. They are so positive of the quality of their products that they actually do offer this high level of after sales service. Of course, they don’t come cheap. The cheapest Oreck vacuum cleaner costs around $300 and the most expensive ones cost more than $700.

What is the way to find a Oreck vacuum cleaner supplier?

A first-rate place to purchase an Oreck vacuum cleaner is the company website. You will find an easy to navigate online store that shows you all the products that they offer on the market. From upright vacuum cleaners up to air purifiers; which eliminate the bacteria, molds and viruses in any house!

Alternatively, you could also look for an Oreck store near where you live. If you don’t know how to find a store, just place your zip code in Oreck’s web page and it will give you the location of the nearest Oreck store to you. There you can check out their products and consequently understand why they are considered one of the best vacuum manufacturers in the world.

So which Oreck vacuum cleaner would be the best for you to purchase when there some many versions to choose from? Although there are four models, the basic vacuum cleaner would be a great buy for any home owner to use in the home. It also as a great warranty, and is reliable, durable, and will last a long time.

On the other hand, you should check the other models if your requirement is for an industrial vacuum cleaner. They where all designed for different purposes and needs. If you can’t make your mind up just contact the Oreck vacuum cleaner sales and technical department, and tell them your needs, be assured they will point you in the right direction.

Why are our pets so afraid of vacuum cleaners?

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009
silvercomet asked:

There are many other things in our houses that make a racket, and the dogs and kitties are alright with them, but, drag out the Hoover, and, wow!, it’s as if you were coming after them with a chainsaw.

Why is this?
